Community Impact

I recently learned of a big win from one of our Kalamazoo funded partners: Community Homeworks!  They were a recipient of the UWSCMI Disaster Relief Fund grants for the 2024 tornadoes that impacted southern parts of Kalamazoo County.  Prior to that time, Community Homeworks was not able to offer repair services on mobile homes.  Thanks to the funding from UWSCMI and the clear need to serve mobile home owners, the team pivoted and added new skilled subcontractors. Community Homeworks not only assisted families impacted by those tornadoes, they have now been able to leverage that experience to add continuing services for mobile home owners to their regular programming.  I am so proud of their team for expanding their services to meet the need and I love that UWSCMI funding helped to enable this big win for the community!
