United Way of South Central Michigan seeks to partner with nonprofit agencies in Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson and Kalamazoo counties that address the needs of people in financial hardship and persons who have been historically oppressed and marginalized. The 15-month 2026-2027 Community Impact Grant request for proposals is focused on supporting initiatives which lift our local communities.

In the six weeks since a March 12 fire at Reed Manor Apartments in Jackson displaced more than 70 residents, United Way of South Central Michigan has been working alongside other community organizations and leaders to aid in the short and long-term recovery for impacted residents.

Here’s the reality: preventing gun violence (and building real safety) isn’t a one-organization job. It’s everyone’s job: neighbors, nonprofits, businesses, schools, faith communities, healthcare, city and county partners, youth leaders, and residents with lived experience, all bringing what they’ve got.
