2025 Impact Volunteer Awards: Adult Volunteer, Lori Landon
Lori consistently embodies equity, integrity, compassion, collaboration, and results in her daily work. Over the past two years, dedicating over 1,400 hours to Charitable Union, she has been committed to ensuring that everyone they serve has equal access to opportunities and resources. Her strong sense of integrity is reflected in her reliability and willingness to take ownership of important tasks, particularly in managing inventories and preparing for events.
Leading with compassion, Lori is always ready to step in when she sees staff feeling overwhelmed. She has proactively taken tasks off others’ plates, easing workloads and strengthening team morale. Her collaborative spirit and ability to pivot wherever needed make her an invaluable team member.
There is a vital behind-the-scenes role Lori plays in supporting Charitable Union's mission. She keeps inventories up to date for Winter Coats, Back-to-School giveaways, baby diapers, period products, and layettes—preventing backlogs and ensuring everything is organized and ready when families need it most. She also assists with events, making sure they are fully prepared and able to serve efficiently.
She is truly like a behind-the-scenes genius. Without her dedication, Charitable Union would not be able to serve as many families in Calhoun County. Last year alone, they provided back-to-school clothing to over 800 students and distributed more than 3,000 winter coats. Tracking sizes, monitoring stock, and keeping everything replenished is a monumental task—one that Lori willingly and responsibly manages. Her commitment directly impacts the number of families they are able to serve.
Her behind-the-scenes work ensures they are ready for every interaction. By managing and maintaining their supplies, she prevents shortages and backlogs, allowing them to respond quickly and effectively to those who rely on them.
Lori's service has also freed up valuable staff time, enabling team members to be more engaged in the community, attend additional events, and reach even more families by introducing them to their services. Through her behind-the-scenes dedication, she strengthens Charitable Union's ability to build a strong, caring community where every person is valued, supported, and connected to the resources they need to thrive.
